Good morning, Markham!

Spring has sprung… or so they say. With this gloomy weather, I’m not totally convinced. But the week ahead is popping! There’s lots of good stuff for everyone.

Note: Events marked with a “➡️” are not in Markham but they’re too good not to share!

Let’s get into it!

New safety measures are coming to 16th Avenue and Peter Street this spring. “Do Not Block Intersection” markings and new warning signs will be added to help reduce congestion and prevent turning-related collisions. The updates are part of York Region’s Vision Zero plan to improve safety and traffic flow for everyone.

Road work is coming to Ninth Line/Donald Cousens Parkway starting spring 2026. York Region will widen the road and complete infrastructure upgrades between Steeles Avenue and 14th Avenue, with construction expected to run through late 2027. Drivers may see occasional lane reductions and some night or weekend work, but access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
